BOOK DESCRIPTION
Motoring journalist Alex Parker describes his 25 most desirable cars to drive, from the old warhorse Land Rover Series II to the modern classic Aston Martin DB9. Other categories covered include the sporty hatchback, US muscle car, executive limousine, out-and-out supercar and perfect drop-top. Glossy pictures of the cars in question accompany 1,200 words per entry, each one covering four pages, with a specs box to start and second-best option for that category to end. Avoiding the technical petrol-head approach, the writing is lifestyle-oriented and entertaining, focusing on the emotion and feel generated by the cars, specific to a South African audience. With a foreword by David Bullard.

REVIEWS
"This lavishly illustrated landscape-format book is nostalgia-inducing in advance... It celebrates the sort of cars we'll mostly never ride in, let alone own, but over which afflicted males will drool" – James Mitchell, The Star
“The cars have been chosen for their driving experience and Parker has been able to demonstrate this to readers with every entry. He brings out the soul of each car featured in the book, instead of the usual tables of statistics relating the kilowatts and torque and other boring numbers. He delves into the emotions the cars evoke among admirers and owners, and not just how fast this one will corner or that car will brake. The ability of the cars to exude passion comes out of the pages in both the text and fantastic photographs” – Peter Taylor, The Weekender
“I may not necessarily agree with Alexander Parker’s choice of cars in his book, 25 Cars To Drive Before You Die, but his choice of words and the images he uses makes this glossy, hard-cover book interesting to read… The book is of high quality and worth buying to keep as a collector’s item or simply to give away as a Christmas or birthday gift to someone who appreciates beautiful cars” – Steve Dlamini-Kabini, City Press Pulse
"This is more than just a listing of great cars. Each selection has a witty and knowledgeable review by Parker, who personally test drove them all. And, if your lips move when you read, there are enough pictures to make this book well worth its R155. So open up, step in and enjoy“ – Sunday Tribune
“We all have our own ideas of automotive perfection. It's what makes motoring such fun. Parker offers snapshot alternatives to each of his picks. Even if you disagree with his final 25, there's no arguing with his passion or knowledge. The pictures are pretty good, too” – Financial Mail
